Dressing and truing the grinding wheel

The tool most commonly used to true or dress a grinding
wheel consists of a revolving metal cutter or roller fitted
with a long handle. (Fig 1)

wheel being dressed. The action of the roller is to crush
the surface of the wheel to free the abrasive particles.
